Basic RV Safety Guide
Traveling in your RV is a great way to relax and get out into nature. However, you do need to do your part to make sure that you’re being safe about RV camping. Here are some tips, courtesy of your local RV dealer.
Inspect & Secure
Before hitting the road, make sure all items inside the RV are properly secured to prevent them from falling and causing injury while driving. Check the tires for proper inflation, look for any signs of wear or damage, test the brakes, and ensure all lights are working properly.
Drive & Park With Care
RVs are larger and heavier than regular vehicles, so it's important to drive at a safe speed and maintain a safe following distance. Avoid sudden stops or sharp turns. When parking your RV, be sure to choose a level spot and use wheel chocks to prevent rolling. Avoid parking on steep inclines or unstable ground.
Be Ready For Emergencies
Have a first aid kit, emergency supplies, and a plan in case of a breakdown or other unexpected situation. Make sure to have a charged phone and know how to contact emergency services. Keep a fire extinguisher on board and know how to use it. Be cautious when cooking inside the RV and never leave cooking appliances unattended.
Follow Rules at the Campground
When staying at a campground, be sure to follow all rules and guidelines to ensure the safety of yourself and others. Respect quiet hours, speed limits, and any other regulations in place.
