A Guide to Motorhome Classes
When it comes to motorhomes, there are three main types, called “classes,” that you should know about. The three different classes of motorhomes each offer unique features and amenities to suit different preferences and needs. Whether you are looking for luxury and space in a Class A motorhome, convenience and maneuverability in a Class B motorhome, or a middle ground with a Class C motorhome, there is a motorhome class for every type of traveler.
Class A Motorhomes
Class A motorhomes are the largest and most luxurious type of motorhome available. They are built on a specially designed chassis and can range in size from 20 to 45 feet in length. Class A motorhomes often feature spacious living areas, full kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms.
These motorhomes may also include amenities such as multiple slide-outs, entertainment systems, and high-end finishes. Class A motorhomes are ideal for long road trips or full-time living, as they offer plenty of space and comfort.
Class B Motorhomes
Class B motorhomes, also known as camper vans, are smaller and more compact than Class A motorhomes. They are built on a van chassis and typically range in size from 16 to 22 feet in length. Class B motorhomes are easier to drive and maneuver than larger motorhomes, making them a popular choice for those who want a more nimble vehicle.
Despite their smaller size, Class B motorhomes still offer amenities such as a kitchenette, bathroom, and sleeping area.
Class B motorhomes are great for weekend getaways or short trips, as they are more fuel-efficient and easier to park than larger motorhomes.
Class C Motorhomes
Class C motorhomes are a middle ground between Class A and Class B motorhomes in terms of size and amenities. They are built on a truck chassis with an attached cab-over bunk, giving them a distinctive look. Class C motorhomes typically range in size from 20’ to 32’ in length.
These motorhomes offer more living space than Class B motorhomes, with features such as a full kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping areas. Class C motorhomes are a popular choice for families or groups, as they can sleep more people than Class B motorhomes. They are also easier to drive than Class A motorhomes, making them a good option for first-time RV owners.
